Specialising in Attachment & Trauma Therapy

Hello and welcome to Innate Therapies.  My name is Donna Mahoney. My passion in life is helping children, adolescents and families to empower them to take control of their lives and live their best life possible.

I am known for the work I do as a child, adolescent and family counsellor. I write personal development programs for all ages and facilitate them around Australia and internationally. I have recently ventured into writing therapeutic books for children as I have found that the books that are available don’t quite get the message across that is needed to give each child personal insight into their situation.  In addition, I am also a Best Selling Author of personal development books for women.

People ask me all the time how do I do the work I do? That is easy for me to answer as I am passionate about children and the protection of children and their families. I have acquired a lot of skills over the years through formal education and most importantly informally thanks to my clients teaching me. My dedication and drive comes from my beliefs around protecting children, empowering others and linking in my sense of family and my sense of community and giving back to the community that has given me so much.

I am continuously updating my skills to ensure I am bringing my clients the highest level of services possible.  I have extensive experience in the use of modalities such as Sand Play Therapy, Clay Field Therapy, Initiatic Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Expressive Therapies and Emotional Freedom Technique. I utilise a combination of these tools when working with clients.

When you work with me you can be assured that I will give you my complete dedication to you or your family through whatever has brought you my way. Some of the qualities that I have are that I am understanding, honest, reliable and love to laugh which allows me to have an amazing ability to look at the lighter side of life, which I share openly with my clients. My work matters to me as children and their families matter to me and I believe that through support, trust, new tools and a different perspective we can get through anything life might throw at us.

I am a counsellor which in essence is a facilitator of personal change, I cannot change what has happened in someone’s life, however I can change how it impacts the rest of their life. One of my favorite sayings is “tomorrow is a brand new day” and we all deserve to live our life in a safe, positive, uplifting and meaningful way.
